Neurotoxins; Botox, Dysport & Xeomin and how does it benefit me?

Botox and how does it benefit me?

Neurotoxins such as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are purified toxins which temporarily reduce or erase facial wrinkles.  The most common areas people associate Botox with are forehead lines, frown lines or 11’s, and crow's-feet, but there is so much more!  Botox can also lift the corners of the mouth that sag with age, correct an uneven smile, wrinkles along the nose and smooth out dimpled chin. We also use it to treat jaw pain from clenching and soften the neck lines as well.

There are several advantages to continuing regular, scheduled botox injections. Mosts patients who maintain a regular injection schedule report that they actually need injections less often, and/or require smaller quantities at each treatment. Likewise, consistent Botox injections can slow the progression of dynamic lines and wrinkles since the muscles stay in a relaxed position over a long period of time. Thus not creating new wrinkles with time and softening those existing wrinkles as well.

Forehead, Frown Lines, & Crow Feet
We all probably know Botox/ Neurotoxins will correct the wrinkles in you forehead, Frown Lines (aka your 11’s) & Crows Feet. But there is so much more we can do….(Photos)

Bunny Lines

Vertical frown lines that appear above the nose. Depending on how often you squint or scowl, these lines can become very prominent wrinkles deeply etched into your forehead. Botox injections can gradually eliminate these creases, giving you a smoother and more attractive forehead. If you have strong 11’s (between your brows) most of the time your bunny lines are needed to be treated otherwise this muscle will overcompensate for it.

Chin

A few units of Botox in the chin area can decrease or eliminate chin dimpling. The treatment leads to a forced relaxation of the muscle in the chin and can smooth out the dimpling very effectively.

Neck
We all have a pair of vertical neck bands, known as platysma muscle bands, at the front and sides of the neck. In part of a natural aging process, the vertical bands can become more noticeable due to the fact that they are very frequently in use. Dynamic muscles like these commonly increase in size after years of hyperactivity. Additionally, our skin loses volume and becomes more lax as we age, making the neck bands more prominent and causing the neck to appear older. Botox can relax the dynamic muscles, making them less prominent, and resulting in a smoother, younger looking neck. The results can generally last 4-6 months. The procedure, as with any Botox treatment, can be repeated when the results begin to wear off.

GUMMY SMILE
If when you smile or laugh, people see your gums as much as they see your teeth, this is called a “Gummy Smile.”  You might feel self-conscious and unhappy about this, but the good news is a well-placed Botox shot can fix it. With just a few units of tox  you can relax the overactive muscles responsible for pulling on the upper lip causing the gums to show when smiling.

LIP FLIP

Injecting a small amount of Botox close to the upper lip, relaxes that muscle to show more of the wet border giving the appearance of a fuller upper lip without lip filler. This result can last anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 months. A lip flip can give you the lip you have been looking for without the use of fillers for some clients. Some clients may require a combination of filler and Botox to achieve a desired look. Combination therapy is usually necessary by clients with smaller lips or clients with lines or wrinkles for the perfect correction.

JAW
Some people have strong masseter muscles — translating to a more square-shaped jawline. Having a large masseter muscle in the jaw causes a wider bulging jawline. Injecting Botox into the masseter muscle will help relax the muscle and give you a softer and narrower jawline that’s more esthetic. It will also help with clenting and grindin teeth at night which. may cause headaches.

Sad Smile

Muscles that attach from your mandible to the corners of your mouth begin to pull as we age and lose elasticity, giving you the appearance of a sad smile when you aren’t indeed sad. This can be easily treated with a few units on these muscles to relax the pull and give you a happy smile again!
